Big Fish Automation was founded by a group of engineers and experts who are passionate about home electronics. And by passionate we mean these guys are total geeks. Big Fish Automation has benefited greatly from their love of technology — and their amazing expertise in the field.
David Steed, President
David offers his expertise in business administration, as well as a thorough knowledge of the industry. With an MBA from the University of Utah, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from BYU, he not only knows how to run a business, but understands the complexities of this particular field. In addition to his education, David has hands-on experience owning and operating a technology-based business. In 1999 he helped found Maxstream, a company that dealt primarily with wireless modems and radios. He acted as VP of Engineering until the company was sold in 2006 to Digi International.
Hugh Nielsen, Management Team
Hugh’s extensive experience in engineering, and specifically home automation and control makes him an essential part of the Big Fish management team. With a BS in Engineering from BYU, and over 25 years experience working with companies like Vantage Controls, as an engineering manager; Transera, as an engineer; and Maxstream, as a founder and CTO, he knows this industry inside and out, and can help Big Fish to meet and exceed your expectations.
Ron Wilson, Management Team
Ron has over 35 years experience in this industry. He was president of Vantage Controls, a top control and automation company that manufactures equipment for residential control and automation, for over 20 years. He also worked for 35 years as President of Transera Corporation. His invaluable experience in home automation, as well as a BS in Electrical Engineering, makes him an integral part of the Big Fish management team.
Mark Donaldson, Management Team
Mark Donaldson has been a business owner for over 35 years, and offers his commitment to quality and affordable excellence. He has a degree from BYU, and a medical degree from the University of Utah. While still practicing medicine, Mark’s contribution to the Big Fish team is not only his extensive education and business experience, but also his commitment to making automation and energy efficiency affordable for everyone. He currently holds a patent on an energy efficient home.
Giff Largey, VP Projects
Giff Largey has always had an active interest in audio and home theater. Even as a teenager he spent his free time building speakers, and trading manual labor for knowledge on electrical engineering and audio. He furthered his education at BYU, and studied Electronics Engineering Technology. While attending school, he worked for BYU as an audio engineer doing sound for events like concerts, sports, etc. Shortly after, he started and operated a successful custom installation and home theater company, working directly with customers to help fulfill their needs. With nine years of direct experience in this industry, and several years of experience in related fields, Giff is committed to making home automation simple and affordable for you.
